Vision / Mission / Quality Policy

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate students who will carry the technological cooperation between Turkey and Germany forward, who will be able to cooperate in materials science and technologies in joint working platforms, who have gained the professional qualifications required by the field of Materials Science and Technology, and who are free in thought and wisdom.

Our Vision

Our aim is to become a department in the field of Materials Science and Technology that continues to be a popular department for students in Turkey, but also an education programme that students from Germany prioritise to study, and a department that researchers on the international platform wish to work together.

Our Quality Policy

Our fundamental quality principle is to ensure that students and graduates are highly satisfied with the education they receive. Establishing the necessary systematics for this, improving quality with a continuous development perspective and adopting scientific quality approaches constitute the basis of our quality policy.

About Materials Science

Metallurgy, which started with the shaping of pure metals by smelting in the early ages, has evolved into materials science; covering subjects requiring interdisciplinary work such as; iron-steel, glass-ceramic, polymers, composites, semiconductors, biomaterials and non-metallic materials. Material science aims to design, develop and produce new materials that will make Daily life easier and increase the life quality of humanity, and to create new areas of use for existing materials. Therefore, developments in materials science pave the way for technological innovations in different fields. This situation necessitates the existence of institutions that will produce internationally qualified knowledge and technology in the field of materials science and technologies in developed and developing countries.
In this context, the Department of Materials Science and Technology, which was opened in 2014 within the Faculty of Science of the Turkish-German University, aims to educate qualified personnel who will produce new technologies in this field in our country, make these technologies available to the society, and who are leading in their professions and are internationally accepted.
